Kimnara Space Launch Night — Sunset to Last Set

Kimnara Space opens in Cepaka, Tabanan on Saturday 26 September 2026, and the launch night is built around what the site does best: performance staged in and around working rice fields, after dark.

Doors open at 4:00 PM. Check in, pick up a welcome drink, and take the walkthrough of the Cepaka Learning Center from 4:30 PM while there is still daylight — the best time to shoot the architecture and the field-side approach before the crowd arrives.

At 5:00 PM a live rindik ensemble and Balinese dancers open the night, running a full half hour. Remarks and the keynote from the Vice Minister of Tourism follow at 5:30 PM. The ribbon cutting at 5:50 PM is the moment Kimnara Space officially opens, and it is worth being in position for. A second dance performance runs at 6:00 PM, with a special Grab campaign from 6:10 PM.

The night turns from 6:10 PM. Stand-up comedy first, then a DJ set with live saxophone from 6:35 PM. At 7:20 PM the lasers and projectors come on and the performance moves out across the rice fields — the single most photogenic moment of the evening, and the reason the schedule holds ten minutes for it alone.

From 7:30 PM the main event runs for a full hour: kecak dance and fire dance, lit for the camera rather than merely lit. Kecak is a chant performed by dozens of voices with no instruments behind it, and the fire sequence is staged in the open. Shoot it, but leave your eyes some time without a screen in front of them.

The ceremony closes at 8:35 PM. The after-party starts at 8:45 PM with a DJ set and live percussion, and runs until 10:00 PM.

A few practical notes before you set off. The venue sits in Cepaka, in Tabanan Regency, so check your drive time rather than working backwards from the door time. Much of the site is open ground beside the fields, which means uneven footing in places and very little cover if the weather turns. Evenings cool down here once the sun is gone, so bring a layer even if the afternoon is warm. There are six hours between doors and wrap, which is a long night to shoot end to end: if you are budgeting battery, the two moments worth saving it for are the laser sequence at 7:20 PM and the kecak and fire dance at 7:30 PM.
