Grand Opening of Kimnara Space — Official Ceremony

Kimnara Space officially opens its doors in Cepaka Village, Tabanan, on Saturday 26 September 2026. This ceremony marks the completion of a space built to sit within the village rather than beside it: a working creative venue wrapped around the rice fields that have defined Cepaka for generations.

The evening follows a formal programme. Gates open at 4:00 PM with registration and a welcome drink, with a dedicated VIP area reserved for invited guests from government, media and partner institutions. From 4:30 PM guests are taken on a guided tour of the Cepaka Learning Center, the education wing of the site, before the ceremony itself begins.

The opening at 5:00 PM runs for half an hour, announced by a live rindik ensemble accompanied by Balinese dancers. From 5:30 PM come the remarks: the owner of Kimnara Space, the Perbekel of Cepaka and the Bendesa Adat each speak to the relationship between the venue and the village that hosts it, followed by the keynote from the Vice Minister of Tourism, placing the project in the wider context of tourism development in Tabanan Regency.

The ribbon cutting at 5:50 PM formally opens Kimnara Space, again accompanied by rindik. A second dance performance follows at 6:00 PM, and at 6:10 PM a special Grab campaign runs alongside the programme.

From 6:10 PM the programme moves into its cultural and performance segment: stand-up comedy, a DJ set with live saxophone, and at 7:20 PM a laser and projector performance staged across the rice fields themselves. The centrepiece arrives at 7:30 PM, an hour of kecak and fire dance under dedicated lighting. The grand opening formally closes at 8:35 PM.

Guests who wish to stay are welcome at the after-party from 8:45 PM, a DJ set with live percussion running until 10:00 PM.

Attendance is free and by invitation. Registration in advance is required so that seating and the VIP area can be prepared, and each registration covers up to two guests. Institutional guests are asked to record the name of their organisation and their position during confirmation, which allows the protocol team to seat delegations together and prepare name cards ahead of the ceremony.

Please note that a substantial part of the programme is staged outdoors, including the projection sequence across the fields and the kecak performance. Guests are advised to dress for an open-air evening. Registered attendees receive a QR code by email which is scanned at the gate, and the same code is used again at the exit so that the organisers have an accurate record of attendance.
